International competitions and Olympiads 2015/16
Since 2007, Gimnazija Vič has taken part in a wide range of different international projects connected to science and technology, in particular those which deal with the important theme of sustainable development.
We are happy to say that this school year has been another one with great successes for the students and mentors of our school. Hundreds of students from schools right around the world take part in these competitions so any prize is a great achievement for the people involved and positive reflection of our school.
GENIUS Olympiad New York, USA
Gold Award
Gašper Bizjan for his short film “Final Bloom” which deals with the aftermath of an environmental catastrophe.
Silver Award
Miha Černe and Jaka Grbac for their project on the design of molecular weaving.

Bronze Award
Anja Dremelj and Anja Pirih for their project on the effect of glucose on cell survival after electroporation.
Miha Pompe for his project on the development of CO2 and conductivity sensors for air/water quality detection.
Honourable Mention
Martin Justin and Rok Kovač for their Citi-Sense project which deals with monitoring and improving air quality in our school’s classrooms.
GENIUS School of the Year Award 2016
This special prize was awarded to Gimnazija Vič this year, a remarkable achievement when you consider that over one hundred countries took part in this competition.
GENIUS Supervisor Award 2016
This special prize was awarded to Alenka Mozer, a teacher of chemistry at our school and the key supervisor of all these major international science projects and competitions.
