Musicals@Vic 2022
After a two year break due to the pandemic, the traditional Musicals@Vič concert was once again held at our school on the 20th and 21st April 2022.
From choreography and vocal training to sound design, lighting, and costumes, this concert is one of the few projects that is organised and carried out in its entirety by students. This year, the main coordinators were Nejc Rac, Brina Zadravec, Bina Verbič Šalamon, and Rok Sušnik.
The musical numbers were performed by students from all four year, who showed their talents and abilities through a plethora of different Broadway and big-screen staples: from the introductory group number Willkommen from Cabaret, through dramatic and emotional acts, such as Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid), Tightrope (The Greatest Showman), You Love Who You Love (Bonnie & Clyde), Flowers (Hadestown), I See the Light (Tangled), and She Used to Be Mine (Waitress), to playful performances of Singin’ in the Rain (Singin’ in the Rain) and Sincerely, Me (Dear Evan Hansen). The audience were especially dazzled by The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera, a duet version of When You’re Good to Mama (Chicago), a jazzy performance of Cry Me a River (The Girl Can’t Help It), and a spirited rendition of Don’t Rain on My Parade (Funny Girl). The concert concluded with a final group number, a mash-up of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! and Dancing Queen from Mamma Mia.
The concert was greeted with thunderous applause and enthusiasm, and we cannot wait for next year’s concert!
