Musicals@Vič 2020
The annual Musicals@Vič concert took place on 22 January 2020 in the main hall of Gimnazija Vič. Seeing how last year the hall was completely sold out, this year's concert was performed on two separate evenings. Even with this additional show, the crowds were no smaller.
The organisation of the event was flawlessly executed by Brigita Nagode, Ana Bračić and Ana Štefan, all students at our school, who put together an hour and a half of carefully selected songs from musicals ranging from Broadway and West End classics to modern additions and even a Slovenian original in the form of Ljubim from Cvetje v jeseni.
The cast included students from all four years and even some former students of Gimnazija Vič. The evening was packed full of laughter, emotion, and drama with exquisite acts such as If I Were a Rich Man from the Fiddler on the Roof, the timeless classic Somewhere over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz, the playful A Cover is Not the Book from Mary Poppins Returns, and a show-stopping male version of Cell Block Tango from Chicago.
As in previous years, the wonderful performances were accompanied by the corresponding costumes, choreography, hair, and make-up as well as stage design and sound control which were all realised and arranged by students from our school.
It is important to note once again that this is one of the very few projects at our school that are planned and carried out by the students acting completely independently.
Every year, the concert is greeted with massive applause and standing ovations. The Musicals@Vič project gets bigger and better with every passing year, and there are even plans being made to perform in front of groups outside our school to allow our shows to be enjoyed by an even wider audience.
