National Competition: English (IATEFL)

The start of April brought good news for Gimnazija Vič students who took part in the national competition for English organised annually by IATEFL Slovenia.

This competition which tests students’ knowledge in different aspects of written English is open to all third-year students across Slovenia but numbers are whittled down by first having competition within one’s own school, then a set of competitions at a regional level, with the very best of those being invited to attend the competition at the national level.

Seven of our students showed a strong level of knowledge and ended up at this national level of the competition which took place in March 2019.

We are thrilled to say that all seven ended up being awarded prizes.

• Gold award: Ian Kesar, Zala Kožman, Eva Jelovčan
• Silver award: Svit Strehovec
• Bronze award: Andrej Matevc, Maj Priveršek, Maruša Čop

Congratulations to all these students for the hard work on display with these excellent results.

In addition, special thanks must go to the school mentors for the competition who had additional meetings with the group through the year, taking the time to prepare revision material and meet with the students after their regular classes. Also, there must be a mention for the teachers who have worked with the students in their own classes and who took the time to attend the competitions alongside those who were taking part.
